At LBT Power SA we specialize in non-autoclaved Foam Concrete, also known as Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC), Aircrete, or Foamcrete technology.

LightBUILD™ concrete can be manufactured to precise specifications of strength and densities.

The lowest densities can be used for fills and insulation and the higher densities should be used for structural applications, leading to a substantial reduction in the dead weight of a structure.

LightBUILD™ concrete also has up to 10 (ten) times the thermal resistance of conventional concrete which translates to high energy efficient buildings as well as reduce building and running costs. It can be used in external and internal applications and can be produced as either load bearing or non-load bearing elements.

We at LBT Power SA offer our knowledge, specially designed equipment and on-site technical support to manufacture lightweight concrete materials for a wide range of applications as infill and insulation as well as lightweight foundations, in response to requests from developers, architects and engineers for a product which can provide the properties of concrete at a significantly reduced weight.

The requirements may involve enhancements of characteristics such as ease of placement and compaction without segregation, long-term mechanical properties, density, volume, endurance, stability, or service life in severe or hostile environments.

Through the collaborative scientific research and engineering we offer solutions and packages to all forms of business in South Africa who would like to use our techniques to manufacture products or offer services using Lightweight Cellular Concrete technology, providing them with all necessary equipment, expertise and extensive on-site technical support and after-sale service. The manufacturing process in general consists of two stages: the foam production and the mixing a pre-manufactured foam into the cement and water slurry using the specially designed unit – a “Porosifier”. This technique is incorporated in our mobile and semi-mobile MFCP plants and allows us to manufacture the top-quality foamed concrete from the frontier density of 130 kg/m3 and up to 1400 kg/m3 with the plant’s production capacity of up to 30 cubic meters per hour.

Together with our standard MFCP plants we offer a low-cost solution where we eliminate the need for an external foam generating unit.

Our TCM mixers operate in turbulent-cavitation mode generating myriads of bubbles in the concrete slurry combining in one unit the functions of slurry mixer, foam producing unit and the Porosifier.

The patented mixer design allows the consistent and high-quality foamed concrete production of any density in the range of 300 – 1000 kg/m3.

As the concrete hardens, the bubbles disintegrate leaving air voids (cells) of similar sizes. Foamed cellular concrete is generally air-cured. Curing might be accelerated by applying heat, steam and/or chemicals.

LightBUILD™ cellular concrete is a High-Performance cellular concrete defined as “concrete which meets special performance and uniformity requirements that cannot be achieved routinely by using only conventional materials and normal mixing, placing and curing practices.”

Density and strengths can be controlled to meet specific structural and non-structural design requirements.

Our Products

Protein foam concentrate “Bio-Froth” is manufactured in South Africa under the LBT Power South Africa license. Bio-Froth is intended for producing technical foam used in making various grades of foam concrete.
LightBUILD™ Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) or foam concrete is a mixture of cement or cement and aggregates with a multitude of micro/macroscopic discrete air cells uniformly distributed throughout the mixture.
TRENCHFILL GROUT enables the excavation site to be re-opened quickly to traffic. On average, only 4 hours after pouring, the mortar reaches a resistance to deformation equal to that of compacted soil, and after 24 hours reaches the performance level of a cemented mix.
